My aunt Ruth was a second mother to me. I lost my parents at a fairly young age and she and Phil took on that role for me. Ruthie always made me feel like a 3rd daughter, 4th child and truly one of her own. I traveled with them all over the world and one of the biggest joys in my life was having their love, teachings and support.
Ruth was a force. Her tenacity (some would call it stubbornness) was unmatched. She was so interested and curious about the world. She was creative and innovative in ways most people never imagine.. What I learned from her was drive, determination, an amazing sense of family and unconditional love. Her constant sense of purpose was visible to all. She wanted to learn, to do, to see, to experience everything she could. Her golf, tennis and walking routines well into her 80s was an example of this. Her studying Italian and taking piano lessons in that decade when worried about her memory shows who she was. Ruth was fiercely determined and incredibly self-disciplined (except perhaps around ice cream). I am so very grateful for her impact in my life, for making me feel the inclusion fully in her family and for all she taught me without even knowing. I will never forget her laughter and joy which shined through. She truly is my woman of valor and I have complete admiration for the way she lived. RIP my dear aunt Ruth. I love you so very much. Gratefully, Bonnie

Dear Ruth - wishing you peace and rest. Thank you for welcoming us for so many years to your beautiful home to celebrate Passover. I have many delicious and meaningful memories! Thank you for bringing us together and introducing us to family members we never previously knew. I still make your haroset to this day! Thank you for welcoming Max and Eli - we talked about you yesterday and they have fond memories of playing with their Afikomen prizes in your home! I treasure the photos of us around the table, and of you and Phil and Jack and my dad teaching my kids the Passover customs. I always loved coming to see you and your entire wonderful family. In the earlier days, you took me grocery shopping for Passover and I enjoyed spending alone time with you, talking about food and art. Sending our warmest wishes and love. Tamara, Max and Eli
