Obituary for Sylvia Bliss (Freedman)

Sylvia Freedman Bliss was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1927. She and her family moved to Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1934. She attended Jeremiah E Burke High School. She met George Bliss who was a holocaust survivor from Poland, and they married in 1954. Following her husband’s unexpected death in 1970, she took over the family furniture business until retiring in 1977. After living in Needham, Massachusetts for almost 30 years, In the mid 80’s she moved to California where she remained until her passing. She was a mother to three children, Marlene (William Pompetti), Diane (Michael O’Toole), and Steven (Nore) and grandmother to Jeremy and Gabby. Sylvia’s hobbies included being an avid reader, completing word search puzzles, and knitting (newborn blankets for premature infants). She died of natural causes after celebrating her 94th birthday.
