Lucille Crane Zemlick
February 2, 1928 - October 7, 2023

Lu Zemlick left this earth peacefully on October 7, 2023.

Lu was born to Max and Fannie Crane in St. Louis, MO where in 1945 she met her lifelong love and partner, Maurice (Maury) Zemlick (1924-2013). After Maury agreed to the family of Lu’s dreams, they married in December 1946. In 1955 Lu and Maury moved to San Diego with their family.

Lu and Maury’s marriage became the foundation of her purposeful life. Maury became a noted Clinical Psychologist. Lu was an instrumental partner of Maury managing his practice and supporting the founding and development of the California School of Professional Psychology and it’s San Diego Campus.

Lu loved all children and had 5, all of whom survive her - Marc (Cathy), Sherry (Jim), Cindy, Carlo, and Lori (John). She was blessed with three loving grandchildren, Jason (Samantha), Brittany (Andy), and Issac (Krisi) and three great grandchildren (Stephen, Sarah and Kahlan). Lu was preceded in death by her
sister Charlotte. Her love of family became a beautiful substitute for her earlier aspirations of becoming a preschool teacher. Throughout her life Lu was happiest when in the company of children and family as well as dancing at social gatherings.

Lu loved all animals, particularly dogs (large and small) of which she had many.
In retirement this passion led to her coordination of La Mesa’s Pet Therapy Program in the 2000’s and early 2010’s. Utilizing her exceptional administrative talents, Lu connected pets and their owners with hundreds of seniors, bringing joy and comfort to all.

Lu’s community volunteer spirit led her to become CPR certified and her immediate responses led to life saving efforts for which she received American Red Cross recognition.

In lieu flowers the family suggests donations to a charity which supports
either animal welfare or a Jewish organization.

A graveside remembrance service honoring Lu will be held Tuesday, October 10
at 2:00 PM at the El Camino Cemetery, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, Sorrento Valley,
San Diego 92121.
