Life Story for Joe Polak

Joe Polak of San Diego, California, passed away in his sleep on July 24, 2019 at the age of 100. He was born to Bertha and Frank Polak on May 10, 1919 in San Diego. He was the 5th of seven children: Fanny, Abe, Mike, Jack, Joe, Ben, and Sally. After graduating from Hoover High School, Joe began his full and wonderful life by going to work for Piggly Wiggly, store #4. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the infantry throughout Europe, alongside his twin brother Jack. Then Joe began a career in civil service. He later married Nola in 1950, a wonderful woman who also served in the Army during the war.
When Nola passed away in 1987, Joe remained in their Streamview Drive home for another 32 years, sharing his home with his brother Benny and later with his twin brother Jack. In his neighborhood he will be remembered as the guy who was always there to help. Joe spent many years surrounded by family and friends, and his last two years he was cared for by his granddaughter, Molly, who moved in with him after coming home from overseas. Joe is survived by his daughters Jola and Linda, and their children and grandchildren.

Joe was loved by many and will be remembered as a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
. . . And he would probably want to remind us that he loves us more!
