Obituary for Irwin J. "Irv " Bressel

Irv Bressel was born in Brooklyn, but in his early teens the family moved to Burbank, California. There he became a real Southern California guy. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in history, a subject that he really loved. After a stint in the U.S. army, he embarked on a long career in sales. Insurance, law publishing, and commercial real estate were some of his specialties.
Irv loved to cook, and especially to bake. Muffins were his forte, and he frequently took over many of the dinner preparations, to the delight of his spouse, Myra.
He and Myra met in Los Angeles erev Rosh Hashana, 1988, when she, going to shul solo, happened to grab a seat next to him. After a rather truncated conversation in between prayers, they hit it off. When Myra got to services the next day, Irv had saved a seat for her!
Their 33 years together were filled with fun, laughter, travel, music, and love. Irv loved going to shul and participating in classes at the JCC; he even got used to attending Myra’s choral concerts!
He leaves Myra, his stepson Mark, and loving cousins and nieces, all who will miss him terribly.
