DALE MALABARBA

It is with much sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Dale Malabarba, 68, of Brookline, MA. Dale left us unexpectedly on January 13, 2022, while living his best life in his second home in La Jolla, CA. A graduate of Everett High School, Dale earned his BA from Boston University, his MA from Tufts University, both in economics, and his PhD in business administration at California Coast University. He spent his entire career in civil service, first with the Census Bureau, then for 35 years at the US Army Natick Labs as the Director of Modeling and Analysis, and most recently working part-time for Technology Solutions Experts, Inc,

Dale also spent countless volunteer hours applying that same expertise for the benefit of many different non-profit and educational enterprises. When he chose to take time for himself, Dale was a published photographer, dedicated beach-goer, wine connoisseur, and avid reader. Dale loved to travel and went on many memorable adventures with his beloved life-partner Shelley.

Dale had a great many friends on both coasts and was loved by all. He cherished his bicoastal life with Shelley, and enthusiastically embraced Judaism, his chosen religion.

He is survived by his life-partner of 14 years Shelley Hurwitz, daughters Beth Malabarba and Nancy Malabarba, son-in-law Jason DeLoria, and ex-wife Catherine Young.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Guiding Eyes for the Blind or Rails to Trails Conservancy. A formal memorial service will be held at a later date.
