Obituary for Barbara Cohen (Praff)

Barbara (Praff) Cohen, of Vista California, passed away in the early hours of May 17th at 93 years old. Barbara was born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 19, 1929. She was the oldest of two children, born to her parents, Morris and Rose (nee Zimmerman). Barbara grew up loving to read, sing, and play the violin. In 1958, Barbara married her husband of 45 years, Bert Cohen, and they eventually settled down on Long Island, first in North Babylon and then in Deer Park. The couple had three children, Judy, Debbie, and Steven.

In 1978, the Cohen family moved from New York to Southern California. Barbara found work as an administrative assistant at Astro Lite Alloy Company in Camarillo and then eventually at State Farm Insurance. Barbara was known for her meticulous attention to detail, and was highly respected and well-liked by her colleagues.

In 1996, Barbara and Bert moved to Vista California, where they bought a lovely little home in a nice community. These were the Golden Years for the Cohens, who enjoyed partaking in many different activities together, such as going to their local fishing club and taking road trips up the California coast, Mexico, and Nevada.

Widowed in 2002, Barbara is survived by her three children, who deeply adored and treasured their mother. One of Barbara’s many favorite sayings was, “In time this too shall past.” She will be remembered for her positivity, optimism, and bright nature.
